Kogi Govt Tasks Teachers On Integrity, Punctuality To Work—-The Kogi Government on Tuesday urged teachers in the state to show responsibility and display integrity in the discharge of their duties.

The Kogi Government on Tuesday urged teachers in the state to show responsibility and display integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Mr Wemi Jones, gave the advice during an unscheduled monitoring and supervision visit to schools in Okene and Adavi Local Government Areas of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the commissioner’s first port of call was the Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Ogaminana, where he charged the teachers on punctuality.
Jones said that ex-Gov. Yahaya Bello had laid a solid foundation in the education sector in the state, adding that this was the legacy Gov. Ahmed Ododo was building on.
“I urge you to show integrity and responsibility in the discharge of your duties for the glorious future of our children.
“The only thing we can do as a government to balance between the rich and the poor is to deliver quality education to our children.
“That is why the government of Alhaji Ahmed Ododo is committed to continuing with the legacy of sufficient funding for education that the immediate past governor started, and we are not joking about it,” he said.
The commissioner encouraged the teachers to be hardworking and diligent in their duties, and produce the best of students that the state would be proud of.
While addressing the students, he said that the school inspection was to enable them know that the Kogi Government cared about their future.
He emphasised that the intention was to guarantee a glorious future for them where they could stand and raise up their head among their peers anywhere in the world.
“This is the plan of the government of Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, and we are going to make sure that we do that.
“We will provide adequate number of teachers, instructional materials as well as fully equipped laboratories and libraries to enhance your learning and academic success.
“So that at the end of the day, you will be proud you passed through the Kogi education system.
Jones urged the students to make themselves available to be tutored, and to learn from the teachers that the government had provided for them.
According to him, government is doing everything possible to ensure that teachers are on duty at all times, and the students must make themselves available to learn from them.
“I urge you to do everything possible to ensure you do well in your examinations because this is the time that you have,” the commissioner said.
NAN reports that other schools visited include Ebira Community Secondary School (ECSS), Ogaminana; Okene Secondary School and Abdulazeez Attah Memorial College, Okene, among others.
The principals of the schools in their various comments, thanked the commissioner and his team for the unscheduled visit, and pledged to effectively discharge their duties.
Mr Suberu Jimoh, Principal of GSSS, Ogaminana, in his remarks said that he was impressed and happy with the commissioner’s unscheduled visit to the school.
“This visit will definitely motivate and ginger our teachers to be more committed to their duties in delivering quality education to our children,” he said.
