The 2005 born has been in fine form for United this season after major injury to most of the first team players that create some game times for him.
Mainoo was previously called to the U21 but was called by Gareth Southgate after his performance against Liverpool that made Manchester United edge past Liverpool in the Fa Cup Q/Final to set up Coventry City S/Final.
Chelsea summer signing Cole Palmer was also called up the same way while in training with the U21 in the last International break for his first senior team call up.
