BREAKING: Leicester City Appoint Steve Cooper As Head Coach—-Leicester City Football Club can today confirm the appointment of Steve Cooper as their new Head Coach ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Steve, 44, has agreed a three-year contract and arrives at King Power Stadium as the Club continues its preparations for our top-flight return, following promotion from the Sky Bet Championship last season.

A manager of Premier League experience following a successful spell with Nottingham Forest, whom he guided to and established in the top flight between 2021 and 2023, Steve has built an excellent reputation in the game for his qualities as a coach and a leader.

Born in Pontypridd, Cooper followed a playing career in Wales by becoming one of the youngest coaches to achieve the UEFA Pro Licence, aged 27, while coaching with Wrexham.

He left his role as Head of Youth Development at Wrexham to join Liverpool as an academy coach in September 2008 and was later named Academy Manager, coaching the club’s Under-18s during the 2012/13 campaign.

In October 2014, he took charge of England’s Under-16s team before his appointment as Under-17s manager the following year. He led his side to the final of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in May 2017 before they were crowned FIFA Under-17 World Cup winners five months later.

Steve joined Swansea City as Head Coach in June 2019 and finished sixth in his first season in charge, with the Swans beaten over two legs by Brentford in the play-off semi-final.

He then secured a fourth-place standing the following campaign, and guided his side to the play-off final, where they were beaten by Brentford at Wembley.

After his departure from South Wales in July 2021, Steve was named Nottingham Forest manager in September of the same year. He remarkably led the City Ground outfit from the bottom of the Championship to a fourth-place finish in his first season in charge, which culminated in promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

He ensured Forest’s top-flight status the following year before leaving the club in December 2023.

Steve will now begin an exciting new chapter as Leicester City manager, with the playing squad due to return to pre-season training in early July.

SC Freiburg Make History with Dominant Win Over Celta Vigo to Reach Europa League Semis—-Freiburg booked a historic place in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals for the first time after a commanding 3-1 win over Celta Vigo, sealing a 6-1 aggregate triumph.

Julian Schuster’s side, who carried a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Germany, finished the job in style away from home with goals from Igor Matanović and a brace by Yuito Suzuki.

Freiburg effectively ended the contest before half-time, scoring twice in quick succession. Matanović opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a powerful volley after a clever build-up involving Matthias Ginter and Jordy Makengo.

Suzuki doubled the lead six minutes later, combining neatly with Jan-Niklas Beste before finishing calmly. The Japanese midfielder added his second early in the second half, converting from close range after a flowing team move set up by Vincenzo Grifo.

Celta Vigo managed a late consolation through Williot Swedberg, but it did little to change the outcome as Freiburg cruised through.

Having already broken new ground by reaching the quarter-finals, Freiburg now advance to their first-ever European semi-final, where they will face either Real Betis or Sporting Braga.

Ousmane Dembélé Hits Brace as Paris Saint-Germain Knock Out Liverpool from UCL—-Ousmane Dembélé starred with a brace as Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, sealing a dominant 4-0 aggregate win to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

The French forward proved decisive on the night, scoring twice to end Liverpool’s European campaign and send the defending champions into the last four for a third consecutive season.

Liverpool’s night was further marred by a serious injury to Hugo Ekitiké, who was forced off in the first half with what appeared to be a severe leg issue, raising concerns over his availability for the remainder of the season.

Manager Arne Slot made bold selection calls, leaving Mohamed Salah on the bench initially, though the forward was introduced early following Ekitiké’s injury and nearly made an instant impact.

Despite flashes of pressure from Liverpool, PSG remained composed and dangerous on the counter. Dembélé broke the deadlock in the second half with a fine curling effort before adding a second in stoppage time from a Bradley Barcola assist.
