Operation Safe Haven Commander Celebrates Eid-el-Fitr With Troops In Jos—-Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, on Wednesday, organised an Eid-el Fitr luncheon to celebrate the troops in Jos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that OPSH is the special task force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States.

Speaking at the event, Abubakar said that the occasion was aimed at appreciating the efforts of the officers and men of the special task force toward ending insecurity within its area of responsibility.

”This celebration reminds us of the unwavering sacrifices of the armed forces and other security agencies in the country in the maintenance of peace and security of lives and property.

”Your professionalism, courage and determination to achieve our mandate is worthy of note and is highly appreciated.

”While I acknowledge your efforts, I urge you not to rest on your oars in ensuring that peace and security return to our areas of responsibility.

”We must intensify efforts in curbing kidnapping, banditry, farmers-herders clashes, cattle rustling and all forms of security threats within our joint operation area,” he said.

The commander, who doubles as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, assured the troops that the armed forces would provide all the necessary logistics to motivate them to effectively discharge their duties.

He urged them to use the Sallah season to pray for their fallen colleagues and the return of lasting peace to all troubled areas in the country.

JUST IN: Court Grants Dele Farotimi N50m bail Over Alleged Defamation On Afe Babalola—-Human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has been granted bail by the Ekiti State High Court.

The court granted Farotimi bail in the sum of N50 million, with a surety of the same amount.

The court ruled that the surety must possess a landed property and adjourned the matter to January 29, 2025, for further proceedings.

Farotimi was taken to court by Chief Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, after being arrested by operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command.

Babalola, 95, accused Farotimi of defaming him in a book titled Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.

The arrest sparked outrage across the country, prompting civil society organizations and the Nigerian Bar Association to call for the activist’s release.

JUST IN: President Tinubu Announces Fresh Key Appointments (FULL LIST)—-TCN reports that Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president (information and strategy) made this known in a statement on Friday evening, December 6.

Onanuga disclosed that President Tinubu appointed Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, a visiting professor at the NUC, as the organisation’s executive secretary.

Prof. Ribadu is an expert in veterinary reproduction and has served as vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa state and the Sule Lamido University, Jigawa state.

President Tinubu appointed Prof. Salisu Shehu as executive secretary of the NERDC.

Prof Shehu is a renowned academic in educational and human Psychology. He was said to be instrumental in establishing the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano, and was the vice-chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.

The president also announced Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi Tsauri’s appointment as the National Coordinator of NEPAD.

Jabilu Tsauri holds a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University.

He is a seasoned administrator with expertise in legislative affairs, global affairs, and democratic governance and vast experience in public service.

Lastly, Tinubu appointed Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as the executive secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI.

Yazid Danfulani holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Arts and Management from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom (UK).

He has extensive experience in Banking, Computing, and Business Administration.

He once worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and was also a Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Zamfara State.

According to the presidency, the Nigerian leader believes the appointees’ experience and track record will bring a new sense of commitment, progress, and positive outcomes to fulfil Nigerians’ expectations of their respective organisations.
