Ekiti APC Chairman Death Devastating, ShockingSenate Leader—-Leader of the Senate, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, has described the death of Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti, Mr Paul Omotoso, as shocking and devastating.

Bamidele stated this in a statement issued by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs on Wednesday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Omotoso, who was kidnapped sometime in 2023 but regained freedom few days after, died in the early hours of Wednesday during a brief illness.

According to Bamidele, a great political void has been created in the state, following the sudden death of the APC chairman.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the politician, his community and the government and people of Ekiti.

Bamidele urged them to take solace in the fact that Omotoso lived for the good of mankind.

According to him, Omotoso’s death, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, is personally shocking to him and devastating to the entire progressive family, not only in Ekiti, but in Nigeria at large.

The lawmaker said that the contributions of the 61-year-old politician to the development of Ekiti, especially at the grassroots, were of immense measure.

He noted that Omotoso played his politics with decorum, good conscience and purposeful leadership.

“With great concern, I join Ekiti sons and daughters to mourn the sudden passing of our state party chairman, Paul Omotoso, who I always describe as a man with great political maturity and purposeful leadership.

“His tenures as a former State Commissioner, former State Secretary of our great political party and the chairmanship which he held until his death were testimonies to his clear direction as a leader and his servant-leader dispositions.

“The remarkable contributions he made and the gaps left behind by the Imesi Ekiti-born politician can not be forgotten and dumped in the dustbin of history.

“His contributions to the formation of APC and his ability to steer the affairs of the state chapter at most difficult instances are part of the memories that we shall live with for a long time,” the senator remarked.

JUST IN: Akwa Ibom Governor Appoints Daughter As Acting First Lady, Says No Money To Pay Another Bride Price—-Governor Umo Eno has appointed his daughter, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki, to assume the role of First Lady of Akwa Ibom State in an acting capacity after the death of his wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.

The government said the decision comes as a way to continue her legacy, especially her pet project, the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA).

The decision was made known during Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s condolence visit to the Eno family in Uyo on Friday, while praising the governor’s decision, stating, “This is a thoughtful way to sustain Patience’s legacy, much like practices in the United States.”
Governor Eno, reflecting on his deep bond with his late wife, said, “I married her when she was 19, and I was 22. I called her Oluwa-Kemi because she was truly a gift from God.”
He added, “Her passing is an irreplaceable loss for me. She was my embodiment of the biblical virtuous woman.”

On the transition of the First Lady’s duties, Governor Eno introduced Helen, saying, “It is not an easy task ahead, but I present our daughter, Helen, to continue the duties of the office.”

Senator Tinubu also offered words of encouragement to Helen, saying, “Your mom didn’t bring you to me for nothing. I believe God will guide you.”

Addressing rumours of remarrying, Governor Eno joked, “I’m not considering remarrying anytime soon. I don’t have the money to pay another bride price.”
He stressed that his late wife’s legacy would continue through Helen, who will coordinate the First Lady’s office and its programmes.

•Minister Of Power, Adebayo Adelabu WhatsApp Number has been Hacked.

THECLOUDNGR The WhatsApp number of Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has reportedly been hacked, prompting a warning from his spokesperson, Bolaji Tunji.

The announcement was made in a brief notice sent to the Daily Post by Tunji on Thursday night.

Tunji urged Nigerians to ignore any requests for money or financial assistance originating from the compromised phone number, stating, “HM of power number has been hacked on WhatsApp. Kindly disregard any appeal for money or any assistance for financial support through the number 08022901928.”

This incident follows closely on the heels of similar security breaches involving other government officials.

Just six days prior, the WhatsApp number of the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, was hacked, and earlier, the same fate befell the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh.

TCN recalls that the WhatsApp number of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, in August was also hacked by fraudsters, leading to an attempt to defraud several of his contacts.

The incident came to light when some individuals on the governor’s contact list received messages from his WhatsApp number, requesting that money be sent to a specified account with a promise of a refund later.

In a related incident, Osun State Government, in July issued a public alert on the security breach of Governor Ademola Adeleke‘s official telephone number.
