JUST IN: Ryan Garcia Arrested For Felony Vandalism At luxury Beverly Hills Hotel—-Former WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia was arrested for felony vandalism at a luxury Beverly Hills hotel Saturday, according to a report.

Garcia, 25, was seen wearing a helmet as police escorted him outside the Waldorf Astoria hotel lobby following an incident in the afternoon, TMZ reported.

The boxer “was taken by the BHPD to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment and to our knowledge, may be charged with public intoxication,” Garcia’s attorney told the outlet.

Damage over $400 is considered a felony under California law.

The former WBC interim lightweight champion was also reportedly under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, TMZ reported

Garcia was led out of the hotel peacefully and without problems.

Authorities reportedly conducted a wellness check on Garcia on Wednesday when a family member expressed their concern for the boxer’s well-being.

Police responded to the hotel in the early evening before determining Garcia was fine and no other crime had been committed, a law enforcement source told TMZ at the time.

Garcia was later seen on Rodeo Drive with his brother, Sean, the outlet added.

Garcia who boasts a 25-1 record, was the center of another scandal after he tested positive for PEDs before his win over Devin Haney in April.

The tests were taken by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association before the fight, but the results weren’t known until afterward, ESPN reported.

A week later he was cleared of a potential positive drug test for 19-Norandrosterone metabolite after his B-sample was tested, according to Forbes.

In January, Garcia announced the birth of his first son, before breaking the news that he and his supermodel wife were heading for divorce.

“Praise the lord. I am so thankful, I love him so much already. He is so fast already haha. Took him just 8 min to arrive,” Garcia wrote along with a picture of baby Henry.

“As I step into a new chapter in my life, it’s with a heavy heart to share that Drea and I have decided to divorce,” Garcia said in a now-deleted Instagram post shared by TMZ.

Months later, the boxer proposed to adult film star Savannah Bond on a private plane, but the engagement was called off soon after.

Garcia broke the news on the “BS w/ Jake Paul” podcast confirming the two had broken up.

A few days after his April engagement to Bond was revealed, Garcia was seen holding hands with model Grace Boor while on a boardwalk in Miami, according to photos obtained by The Post.

JUST IN: FG Cracks Down on Honorary Degree Abuse, Bans Use of ‘Dr’ Title—-Government says honorary doctorate holders who present themselves as academic doctors risk legal and reputational consequences

The Federal Government has announced a nationwide ban on the use of the “Dr” title by recipients of honorary doctorate degrees in official, academic, and professional settings.

The directive was unveiled on Wednesday by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, during a briefing with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Speaking alongside the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Ahmad, Alausa disclosed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had approved a new uniform policy regulating the award and usage of honorary degrees by Nigerian universities.

According to the minister, the move is intended to curb what the government describes as years of abuse, politicisation, and commercialisation of honorary academic awards.

“The recent trend we’ve seen with the award of honorary degrees has revealed a growing abuse and politicisation of this academic privilege,” Alausa said.

He noted that honorary awards have increasingly been used for political patronage, financial influence, and recognition of serving public office holders—practices he described as inconsistent with the ethical principles guiding honorary degrees.

Under the newly approved policy, recipients of honorary doctorates are no longer permitted to prefix “Dr” to their names. Instead, they must clearly indicate the honorary nature of the award by placing the designation after their names.

For example, recipients may use formats such as Chief Louis Clark, D.Lit. (Honoris Causa) or Mrs Miriam Adamu, LL.D. Hons.

Alausa stressed that misrepresenting honorary degrees as academically earned qualifications will now be regarded as academic fraud and may attract both legal and reputational consequences.

The government also introduced stricter rules on the categories of honorary degrees Nigerian universities are allowed to confer. Institutions will now be limited to only four honorary degree types:

  • Doctor of Laws (LL.D)
  • Doctor of Letters (D.Lit)
  • Doctor of Science (D.Sc)
  • Doctor of Humanities (D.Arts)

In addition, universities that do not operate active PhD programmes will no longer be allowed to award honorary doctorates.

The policy is expected to significantly affect public figures, politicians, entertainers, religious leaders, and business personalities who commonly adopt the “Dr” title after receiving honorary recognitions.
